TAVERN LEAGUE OF BURNETT COUNTY MINUTES
March 12th, 2024

Vice President Greg Hunter called the meeting to order. The meeting was held at McKenzie Landing. Members present were Sweeny's, B & O, Whiskey Joe's, Cabaret, 300 Club, Frederic Golf Course, What the Heck, McKenzie Landing, Zia, The Local, Crow Bar, Webb Lake, Pour House, Pheasant Inn, Round-a-Bout, Archie & Arthur's and Hummer's.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Antitrust Statement was read.

Meeting was suspended for guests:

 Don McConkey and his wife from DOVR attended the meeting. He told a little bit about the background of the retreat and had some brochures. They are working on building a community center and are looking for funds to go towards building materials.
 
The Secretary/Treasurer's reports were accepted as submitted. 

CHARITY
Kathy will be handing out charity slips to fill out at each meeting or you can email or bring reports anytime. Kathy will be sending in the 2023 report to TLW before she leaves on vacation.

CORRESPONDENCE
League Leader Updates: TLW announced that they have hired Mark Jefferson to be the new Executive Director.

Legislative Day was held March 5th, 2024 in Madison. No one from Burnett County attended.

Spring Convention is April 8-11th, 2024 in Lake Geneva at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa. A few people said they were going. John Vandergon asked Becky Fender to prepare a saw blade.

Spring Caucus is being held in Medford, March 18th at the High View Inn. Kathy turned in count on March 11th. 3 people from Burnett County are attending.

New TLBC website is up and running. Go to www.tavernlbc.com and check it out. 

Make sure you are using the new TLW app. More user friendly for you to input your information and specials.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT
Kathy Vandergon went through the latest active list from TLW. There was no inactive list again this month. 

Just a reminder that TLW is urging everyone to start paying their dues on their anniversary date. If you don't know your anniversary date please get in touch with Kathy. To make this process easier, there is an autopay option for TLW to have your dues automatically taken out of your bank account. If you are interested, please see Kathy.

Remember we have a thumb-drive from TLW that is a brief presentation as to why a business should join the tavern league.

FUNDRAISERS
$50 Raffle Tickets – October 12th, 2024 is the date for our raffle ticket party at Crow Bar. We will draw at 6 pm.

Defibrillators – Tabled.

Bids for the 2025 TLW State Golf Tournament need to be turned in by August 1st. Tim Vasatka will look into this.

TLBC Golf Tournament – No one from Voyager attended the meeting. Pheasant Inn made a motion that the golf tournament be moved to Frederic Golf Course. 2nd by B&O. After discussion motion was passed. Tim will get started working on the details.

Tour de Bar Books – Tabled. We are still looking for someone to takeover this fundraiser. Brad Burkhardt thought is was getting too late to start this.

Greg Hunter had 5 TLW Foundation raffle tickets to sell. All 5 tickets were sold. Kathy will send check and stubs to TLW.

OLD BUSINESS
Staying Connected App – Kathy stopped and talked to Sara and gave her our donation. It didn't sound like the app would be up and running until the end of March. Kathy created a page on our website that lists many of our member's websites.
Governor's Fishing Opener Sponsorship – As a Walleye level sponsor we get 2 tickets to the VIP banquet and a hotel room. We held a drawing from those present at the meeting and The 300 Club won the tickets and hotel room.

NEW BUSINESS
DOVR Donation – B&O made a motion to donate $1,000 to DOVR with matching funds. 2nd by Archie & Arthur's. Motion passed. Kathy will take care of getting picture in the paper.

Scholarship Award Nights – Kathy is looking for volunteers to present our scholarships. Siren's award night is May10th; Grantsburg's award night is May 13th; and Webster's award night is May 8th.


Drawing was won by Webb Lake Tavern and donated back. Thank you!

REMINDER:
Everyone is eligible to have a meeting at their establishment if they show up for a monthly meeting. New members are encouraged to show up to see what we are all about and if you attend 2 meetings in a row you are eligible to have that next meeting. It is a great way to host and to meet the other Tavern League members.

Every Tavern League member is eligible for the next meeting except for: Pour House, Gandy Dancer, Whiskey Joe's, 10th Hole, Voyager Village, Hummer's, Joker's, Junkyard Bar, Bumps, Frederic Golf Course, McKenzie Landing and The Local. 
 
GOOD AND WELFARE
Hummer's – Meat raffle March 29th with proceeds to Burnett and Pine County law enforcement.

Round-a-Bout – April 20th fundraiser for police and fire departments.

McKenzie Landing – March 17th is Cashman Sunday starting at 12:30 pm.

The meeting was adjourned.
